MUT (MTO Usability-Tool)
HMI experts evaluate interactive systems using MUT (MTO Usability Tool).
The MTO Usability Tool is a checklist-based instrument for quickly and economically assessing the usability of a user interface. This assessment can be performed in all phases of the development process for an interactive device/system. Central to MUT is a checklist whereby the usability of the system can be monitored in terms of diverse and transparent criteria. Assessment occurs by means of a vulnerability analysis in which every operation aspect is classified according to its optimization potential. When an operation aspect is identified for optimization, a transparent explanation is given. Indeed, what we find in many cases is that concrete design suggestions can be read off from the former.
Our tool is suited both for the assessment of hardware components (such as input/output elements) and for the assessment of software characteristics (such as menu structure, screen design, and interaction behavior).

Research in the area of interface optimization delivers a clear competitive advantage.
